PlayStation Plus Subscribers to Receive ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ and ‘Alan Wake Remastered’ for Free in July

Today, Sony revealed the lineup of games for PlayStation Plus in July. The games featured are Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Alan Wake Remastered, and Endling – Extinction is Forever. Subscribers on the Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers will have access to these titles on both PS5 and PS4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (2020) is a controversial installment in the long-running military shooter series. Set in the early 1980s, its plot borrows from a well-known (and largely unsubstantiated) real-world conspiracy theory about a Soviet spy named Perseus who supposedly infiltrated the US atomic weapons program. If you can get past its questionable premise and (suspiciously silent) Vietnam War flashback missions, you can enjoy classic Call of Duty shooters as you blast through East Berlin, Turkey, Moscow and other Cold War hotspots. . In addition to the story mission, it includes the title’s multiplayer and zombies modes.

Meanwhile, Alan Wake Remastered is the 2021 remake of the now 13-year-old adventure game originally for Xbox 360. The game puts you in the shoes of the title character, a successful writer vacationing in the (fictional) Washington state town of Bright Falls. But when his wife mysteriously disappears, he embarks on a nightmarish investigation that blurs the line between reality and fiction. The remastered version includes the console game and the (originally DLC) expansions “The Signal” and “The Writer”.

Finally, Endling – Extinction is Forever is a third-person survival adventure that puts you in the paws of the last surviving fox. In a future reality where humans have exhausted the Earth’s natural resources and left it in ruins, you must guide your three sons to safety and save the species. In addition to its obvious thematic commentary on climate change, conservation, and human excesses, it offers a fun (and relatively short) stealth game using 2D movement in changing 3D environments.
